MAMM is excited to announce its new early childhood music education program…

This new program is designed to stimulate learning by inviting children and their parents, caregivers, or friends to engage in playful, interactive music classes full of singing, movement, and instrumental activities.

Preschool of Rock classes are run by MAMM instructor Jessica Richards.  Originally from Paris, France, Jessica specializes in contemporary voice (pop, rock, R&B, jazz, etc) with a background of 20+ years of experience in singing, vocal instruction, and songwriting.

"Becoming a musical person should be joyful and fun" says MAMM instructor Jessica Richards. "Musical activities bring an organic experience to enhance emotional well-being which is important to the intellectual development of a child."

Families attending the classes will enjoy rhythm/movement games, instrument exploration, and sing-a-longs.  Given Jessica's multilingual background, students will learn to sing songs in a number of foreign languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Russian.

But this isn't your parents' preschool music class!  MAMM is a "school of rock" after all, so children should also expect to learn fun, popular rock songs and to have opportunities to explore electric guitars and other modern instruments.

"With the addition of the Preschool of Rock, MAMM is honored to be able to help children take their first few steps on their own musical journeys" says MAMM director Jeff Shaw.  "We have had so much fun presenting our 'Kids Are Alright' children's concert series at the Portland Public Library these last few years that we are excited to be now offering more direct music educational programming to young, local families."

MAMM's Preschool of Rock classes will be offered as 6-week sessions and will be held at the school's brand new downtown location at 45 Casco St in Portland. Classes will meet weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:15am beginning the week of September 3. The mixed-age (0-5) classes are developmentally appropriate and allow siblings to enjoy classes together. Tuition costs $90 per 6-week session and only $30 per 6-week session for each additional sibling. Space is limited.
