Francesca Houran is a classically-trained violinist from Portland, Maine. She specializes in fiddle, folk, improvisation, and by-ear learning methods. As both a foreign language student and a musician, she is passionate about the methodological overlap that connects music and language learning, better known as the Suzuki Method. She has experience applying her instrument to contexts ranging from jazz sessions to classical quartets, contradance bands to Balinese Gamelan ensembles. She hopes to empower string students through demonstrating the adaptability of their instruments, no matter what genre is thrown their way!
