Thomas

Thomas has been with MAMM since the summer of 2019. He has attended numerous camps, participated in the year long Bangor Rocks programs (which he is now volunteering for) and is a member of Symbol for a Theory. Thomas takes guitar lessons from Bill Pierce (since 2018) and Daryl Rhodes (since 2022). In fall 2023, he will attend the University of Maine Augusta in the Contemporary Music program. Thomas’ long term goals are to play in a band, possibly teach and have music in his life!

Sawyer

Sawyer has been playing guitar for about 5 years. He LOVES guitar and says "it is my favorite thing as it is fun and sounds amazing. I will never give up on guitar and hope for it to be my career when I am older. When my mom found MAMM I was so exited! I had wanted to do something like this for forever and it has been amazing! Everyone is so awesome and I’ve learned a lot and just had so much fun.

Kate

Kate has been learning how to play multiple different instruments pretty much for all her life. From piano to fiddle, to guitar, she has learned many different styles, including rock, classical, folk, & metal. She says, “Out of all the instruments I have played, the guitar is definitely the one that spoke to me. I was learning theory faster than I ever had on other instruments, while at the same time absolutely loving to practice for hours!” As of right now Kate has been playing guitar for 3 years. She has written multiple tunes and riffs, including her Somewhere Over the Rainbow cover in folk finger-style. She is now a student at Berklee Online trying to get her Guitar Performance degree, as well as actively playing in MAMM band named MIXR. She also plays bass guitar at a local church. “If there is one piece of advice I could give, it’s practice, practice, practice! If you don’t enjoy practicing, find that instrument (or thing) that you do enjoy. Yes, you may have your months that you don’t feel like doing anything, but push through them. I’ll tell you, it really pays off, big time!” - Kate

Alex

Alex has been a Bangor MAMM member since 2020. He mainly plays guitar but has played other instruments as well. Alex played the flute in middle school and now bass guitar in band at Hermon High School. Alex also plays guitar as the youngest member of Moxxy, a Bangor area alternative rock band.

Fox

Fox has been playing drums since he was six years old. He loves classic rock, post punk rock, alternative, jazz and cinematic scores. He admires the work of John Bonham, Sam Fogarino, Daru Jones, and Dave Brubeck. An avid reader, he loves all manner of fantasy and sci-fi, especially Terry Pratchett.
