Lessons

Our individual lessons for students of ALL AGES and ANY SKILL LEVEL are the core of our programs. Our private instruction is provided by the area's best performers and educators, all bringing real-world experience to the lessons. MAMM's instructors tailor their approach to each student and their individual needs and interests, rather than following a rigid curriculum. MAMM currently offers lessons in voice, guitar, bass, drums, piano, saxophone, brass, songwriting, home recording/production, and synthesizers. Remote lessons are an option, and occur via Google Meet (videoconferencing-ready laptop, phone, or tablet required). We also offer joint/group lessons offered to friends or family who wish to take lessons together.

SCHOOL-YEAR LESSONS

WHEN

  • Weekly lessons are offered September through June. Click here for the 2025-26 Lesson Calendar!

  • Lessons for youth occur after school & on weekday evenings M-F.

  • Adult & homeschool students may request daytime lessons M-F. Availability may be limited.

WHERE

  • In-person lessons are offered in Portland at our 125 Presumpscot St. and 144 Fore St. locations. Not all instruments available at each location.

  • Remote lessons are offered to anyone, anywhere!

TUITION

The annual registration fee is $60. This fee covers registration for all MAMM programs for anyone in your household during the 2025-26 school year.

PRIVATE LESSON TUITION:

  • $170/month for weekly 30-minute lessons

  • $225/month for weekly 45-minute lessons

  • $280/month for weekly 60-minute lessons

JOINT LESSON TUITION - for friends or family who want to study together:

  • $130/month per student for weekly 30-minute lessons

  • $160/month per student for weekly 45-minute lessons

  • $190/month per student for weekly 60-minute lessons
