Adam Steinberg is a critically-acclaimed musician, producer/engineer, educator, and creative collaborator whose career spans award-winning songwriting and recordings, broadcast media, live performances, innovative technologies, and progressive education. He is a Grammy Award Official Participant, RIAA Diamond Award recipient, three-time Clio Award winner, Boston Music Award and Billboard World Song Contest winner, along with additional music and community honors.

As MAMM’s Downeast Program Coordinator, Adam brings a rare blend of high-level professional experience, educational leadership, and creative energy to MAMM’s mission of helping young people experience the transformational power of music through collaboration, creativity, and community. 

Adam has held influential leadership roles in music technology and design education. He served as Faculty and Dean of Students at NuVu Studio, an internationally recognized project-based high school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he helped design and lead interdisciplinary learning experiences, including teaching educators from around the world through NuVu’s summer continuing education program, and traveling multiple times to Mumbai, India, to teach students and support global project-based learning initiatives. He has also presented on music and technology at Harvard University and other academic institutions.

Adam’s recording, production, and songwriting work is associated with Atlantic Records, Reprise, Sony, Capricorn, and Capitol Records, as well as many independent labels. His music and performances have been featured in major studio and independent films, plus The Today Show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Sessions at West 54th, Radio City Music Hall, and across CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, NPR, and Amazon. He has performed at premier venues and festivals including Lilith Fair, Newport Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, The Bottom Line, The Troubadour, CBGB’s, and The Rat.

As a performer, songwriter, producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist, Adam has worked with artists including The Chicks, Patty Griffin, Sheryl Crow (with The Chicks), Natalie Maines, Livingston Taylor, Kim Richey, Johnny Cunningham, Jim Keltner, Kenny Aronoff, Sebastian Steinberg, and Graham Maby. He has shared the stage with an unusually wide range of artists, including The Ramones, The Band, Foo Fighters, Sarah McLachlan, Joan Jett, NRBQ, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jewel, Incubus, and The Mavericks.

In a uniquely cosmic footnote, Adam’s Bahamas-based band, Andrew Jones and Spirithouse, had their recording of “Run Come See Jerusalum” transmitted from the Arecibo Space Telescope as part of the Sagan/Drake SETI 35th Anniversary, sending the music approximately 30 light-years into space.

Adam also served as Senior Soundware Engineer at Kurzweil Music Systems, contributing to the design and development of professional musical instruments used by iconic artists including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
